But we will also be fencing with epees, sabers, singlesticks, and maybe more.
1. Class Focus - body positions and holding the sword to deliver the attack.
Learned Positions;
1st Position - En Guarde (Center Guard)
2nd Position - Lunge (Long Step Attack),
Learned Techniques; Thrust, Recover (from Thrust), Lunge, Recover (from Lunge).
Partner Drills; attacking the quadrants (4,6, 7, 8)
(Start class with 5 minutes of Foot drills, new students can observe experienced students)
2. Class Focus - Movement as defense,
Learned Techniques; Advance, Retreat, Adoppio.
Partner Drills; Attacking Quadrants, with retreat out of range, then using adoppio to remise.
(Start class with 5 minutes of Foot drills, new students can observe experienced students)
3. Class Focus - Defending the Quadrants with Parries (4678).
Learned Techniques; Parries 4,6,7,8.
Partner drills, Quadrant attacks with parries, and repost, (onion drill for complexity)
(Start class with 5 minutes of Foot drills, new students should participate as well.)
4. Class Focus - Etiquette for Strip Fencing - what is right-of-way?
And why do we use it? Speed rounds with instruction.
(Start class with 7 minutes of Foot drills, new students should participate as well.)
5. Class Focus - Revisiting Parries,
Partner Drills: Quadrant attacks and P-Rs, with movement forward and back, prescribed attacks, then free attacking,
(Start class with 7 minutes of Foot drills, new students should participate as well.)
6. Class Focus - Managing Measure,
Partner Drills: Following and Leading measuring drills, Speed Rounds
(Start class with 7 minutes of Foot drills, new students should participate as well.)
7. Class Focus - Refereeing:
Speed rounds with fencers refereeing.
