New Order of Chivalric Knights

The New Order of Chivalric Knights (NOCK), the parent organization of Tri-Blade Fencing Academy, was founded not only as a place to study and master the medieval art of the broadsword but as a community dedicated to developing the whole person. We seek to cultivate the character traits of honor, integrity, and discipline—qualities we believe have diminished in modern society. By investing in individuals of all ages, from youth to adults, NOCK aims to help restore and strengthen these virtues.

One of our key programs, Tri-Blade Fencing Academy, is open to the public and operates as an accessible fencing club with minimal barriers to entry. Participants have the opportunity to learn all three Olympic fencing weapons while growing in the same core character traits. Mastery of all three weapons is a requirement for those pursuing full membership within NOCK.

NOCK is also a complete knighting order. Every member begins as a squire and may progress toward knighthood through dedication and perseverance. This is not a quick path—it often takes years to achieve. Along the journey, members train in broadsword and other weapons while also constructing their own suit of armor, symbolizing both skill and personal growth.

Craig S. Smith Scholarships

Our founder and lead instructor, Craig Steward Smith, passed away in April 2022. In his honor, we are establishing a scholarship fund in his name and are working closely with his wife, Lady Martha, and the Smith family to create a lasting, meaningful tribute.

This scholarship will be designed to help high school students in Kalamazoo and Calhoun County to further their education. Any contribution—large or small—will be a welcome blessing to the family; donors’ names will be shared with the family in recognition of their support.
